The Barcelona academy is famed for producing some unbelievable talents over the past couple of decades. And Lamine Yamal might be one of the best players La Masia has ever created, according to Aureli Altimira.
At just 15 years of age, Lamine Yamal has got people in Catalonia and the rest of Spain talking about him. Last season, he became the youngest ever debutant in La Liga at 15 years, nine months and 16 days.
“He’s not Messi but he’s the closest thing to him; if he shoots ten times on goal, nine go between the sticks,” former Barcelona academy coach Altimira says in words reported by Mundo Deportivo.
“He does things that 19-year-olds don’t do. I think that controlling his environment will be an important factor [in his development].”
The young forward played 20 league games for the U19 team last term, 15 as a starter, and he scored seven goals. Additionally, he played six games in the UEFA Youth League but failed to get on the scoresheet in the competition, as per the club’s site
