A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was left with a nasty bruise on his right foot during the club’s latest outing.
That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Jules Koundé as the player in question.
France international Koundé was for his part in from the off on Thursday night, as Barcelona kicked the club’s European campaign into gear in a Champions Leage meeting with Newcastle United.
Amid the ongoing battle for places between the former Sevilla man and Eric García, it was Koundé who was given the nod on Tyneside.
And en route to an eventual 2-1 Blaugrana triumph, the 26-year-old played an important role from his berth at right-back.
As alluded to above, though, such efforts on Koundé’s part did not come without their consequences.
As per a report from AS, despite seeing out the full 90 minutes at St. James’ Park:
‘Jules Koundé suffered a severe bruise on his right ankle after a heavy tackle with his studs forward in the closing minutes of the first half.’
The stopper is nevertheless expected to be available to feature when Barcelona take on Getafe this weekend.
