Barcelona are keen to offer a new contract to Ousmane Dembélé, report Mundo Deportivo.
The Frenchman arrived to the Catalan coast from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for a fee of €105 million plus €40 million in add-ons.
Xavi is looking prepare the long-term trajectory of the club and tie down players who are a part of his future plans.
According to the latest news, Barcelona are prioritising the extension of Dembélé’s contract, which is set to expire in June 2024.
The winger was technically released at the end of June as his initial deal expired and Barcelona struggled to organise their finances. He was resigned by the Blaugrana in July on a short-term deal.
Barça are planning to offer Dembélé a long-term contract once again, which would see his release clause be increased from the current €50m.
A new contract would help deter top European suitors over the upcoming transfer window.
