Barcelona are reportedly keen to sign Palmeiras star Raphael Veiga in the summer transfer window.
The Catalans recently claimed the La Liga title for the first time since 2019. Their 4-2 success over Espanyol on Sunday sealed the league crown for Xavi Hernandez in his first full season as Barca’s manager.
However, their performances in Europe were highly disappointing as they finished below Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in their Champions League group to drop down to the Europa League.
But they fell at the first hurdle in the second-tier competition, with Manchester United beating them 4-3 in the two-legged knockout round playoffs.
Barcelona will be looking for reinforcements in midfield this summer but their Financial Fair Play problems mean they will have to go for cheaper options.
According to SPORT, they could sign Palmeiras midfielder Raphael Veiga as a ‘low-cost’ option.
The 27-year-old started his career at Coritiba before switching for Periquito Verde in 2017.
He has been in excellent form for the Brazilian outfit over the years, making 212 senior appearances so far.
The attacking midfielder has scored 18 or more goals in each of the last three campaigns for Palmeiras. He has already bagged 10 goals and contributed six assists in 20 appearances this season.
His current contract at Allianz Parque will run out in December 2026 but he would reportedly be available to sign for only €15 million.
Considering his quality and the amount of fee involved, it seems the Catalans should definitely sign Veiga who has won nine major titles with his club so far.
