Two of Spanish football’s biggest clubs could well be set to fight it out over the signature of Rayo Vallecano standout Andrei Rațiu this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Cadena SER, who point towards Barcelona and Atlético Madrid as the sides in question.
Both, it is claimed, are on the lookout for reinforcements at right-back with a view to next season.
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, in particular, is eager to bring in backup for and competition to Jules Koundé, with the Frenchman having featured from the off in nearly every one of the Blaugrana’s fixtures this season.
Ratiu, for his part, is in the midst of what has been something of a breakout campaign to date.
The Romanian international has racked up 23 league appearances for an impressive Rayo outfit, chipping in with a goal and two assists along the way.
Ratiu has been widely hailed for his efforts on both sides of the ball, viewed as ready to make the step up to a top club.
Alongside Barca and Atlético, Tottenham Hotspur, AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen are all keeping a close eye on the situation, too, ahead of what could be a bust summer for the talented defender.
