Athletic Club are interested in re-signing Aymeric Laporte, per Relevo. The 29-year-old spent nearly six years with the club’s first team, where he made over 200 appearances and lifted the Supercopa de España in 2015.
Ernesto Valverde is keen to add the experienced centre-back to his squad and the feeling may be mutual because of Laporte’s history with the club.
A deal could also suit Manchester City as Pep Guardiola is open to selling the defender as he looks to sign Joška Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.
City’s depth at centre-back is already adequate with Manuel Akanji, Rúben Dias, Nathan Aké, John Stones, and now with the possible addition of the Croatia international.
Laporte would reportedly like to return to La Liga, but there are several teams from England and Italy that are fighting for his signature this summer.
