
In a shocking statement on Monday, Hertha BSC confirmed that Aymen Barkok was assaulted in a Berlin bar over the weekend.
Hertha BSC have announced that Aymen Barkok had to be taken to hospital with facial injuries after being physically assaulted in a Berlin bar on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who is on loan at Hertha from Mainz, underwent successful surgery on Sunday.
According to Hertha’s statement, the police have opened an investigation into the assault on Barkok, who will be sidelined for the time being.
Barkok joined Hertha on loan from Mainz in January and has made 13 appearances for the capital club, scoring once.
He watched their last game, a 1-1 draw with Hannover 96 on Saturday, from the bench.
