19-year-old Renato Veiga has been officially unveiled as an Augsburg player.
FC Augsburg have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old defender Renato Veiga on loan from Sporting CP until the end of 2023. The loan deal includes an option to buy.
“As one of Europe’s top leagues, I’ve followed the Bundesliga for a while, so I’m really excited to get the chance to show what I can do at FCA,” stated Veiga.
“Augsburg have a coach who puts his faith in young players, and I’m convinced that this is the right move for me at the right time,” added the youngster, who can play as a central defender and in defensive midfield.
Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter commented:
“Renato Vaiga is a defensive all-rounder and with his physical attributes, his tackling ability and his strong left foot, he is a smart addition to our squad. He comes across as very mature for a man of his age, which is why he captains Portugal at U20 level.
“Nevertheless, we want to give him time and the best possible support during this one-year loan so that he can reach his full potential.”
