Samuel Amo-Ameyaw (18) is settling swiftly into life in the East of France after he left Southampton FC for RC Strasbourg Alsace on loan during the winter transfer window (but with a €7 million option to make the deal permanent).
Amo-Ameyaw earned his second start of the campaign on Saturday evening as Strasbourg battled to a 2-2 draw with fellow Champions League chasers OGC Nice. The winger scored his second of the campaign to give Strasbourg a 2-1 lead, until Youssouf Ndayishimiye equalised in stoppage time.
The teenager has earned the praise of his head coach, Liam Rosenior, who told reporters in his post-match press conference, “As soon as you mention his name, I smile!” In further comments to DAZN, he said, “He’s a great talent, who already has exceptional maturity for his age.”
Strasbourg were disappointed to drop points last night in the extremely congested Champions League race. The draw was enough for Lille OSC to jump into fourth ahead of Strasbourg on goal difference. Both Lille and Strasbourg could fall further down the table tonight if Olympique Lyonnais win against AJ Auxerre.
