AS Monaco consider bringing in midfield reinforcements

AS Monaco have seen their midfield decimated by injuries. Denis Zakaria was injured last week and now faces a two-month spell on the sidelines.

Aleksandr Golovin is considered as a player of filling in, however, he too is injured, and will remain sidelined for several weeks. The inexperienced Aladji Bamba started against AJ Auxerre and then against Club Brugge, however, he sustained a hamstring injury in the win over FC Metz on Sunday and will be out for several weeks.

Paul Pogba, meanwhile, is not yet fit and will not play before the next international break, as confirmed by Adi Hutter. Monaco’s midfield options are, therefore, limited. Lamine Camara is the only recognised centre-midfielder, whilst Jordan Teze can also deputise there, as he did when Bamba came off at the weekend.

However, amid this injury crisis, Les Monégasques are considering bringing in a midfielder, according to Foot Mercato. Options are limited with the transfer window now closed. The Principality club can either sign a free agent, or a ‘joker’, which allows a French club to sign one player from another French club outside of the transfer window.
