On his return to Arsenal after a 21-goal loan spell at Reims, US national team striker Folarin Balogun has inevitably attracted interest from a host of clubs around the continent.
As indicated by sources contacted by Get French Football News yesterday, Monaco have seen their first attempt at bringing the forward back to French football turned down by the Gunners. RMC Sport report this evening that the club’s proposal fell just short of the €40m mark – short of Arsenal’s €50m valuation. The Ligue 1 side are looking to bring in a striker this month, with Breel Embolo set to be sidelined for several months due to injury.
According to Get French Football News sources, Monaco will be submitting a second bid for Balogun this week, with talks between the two clubs still ongoing. RMC have added that the Principality side have agreed on personal terms in principle with the 22-year-old, although they are still in competition with Inter Milan, with the forward favouring the Nerazzurri.
