Arsenal are gearing up their summer recruitment drive by prioritising RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, while simultaneously exploring discussions with Sporting CP camp over Viktor Gyokeres, according to TBR Football.
Arsenal’s interest in Sesko is intensifying, with negotiations reportedly progressing in recent days.
The 22-year-old Slovenian has stepped up his output in the Bundesliga, ending the season with 21 goals and six assists across all competitions.
Though RB Leipzig initially demanded in the region of €80–90 million, the club remains open to structured payments, and Sesko is believed to prefer a move within Europe over a potentially disruptive transfer to the Middle East.
Arsenal are looking to sign a new striker this summer
Mikel Arteta’s side, who scored just 69 league goals last season, see Sesko as a player who can solve their goal scoring issues next season.
It is because of a lack of lethal goal scorer, the Gunners failed to win the Premier League title and finished second for the third season in a row.
Despite the rising profile of Sesko, Arsenal are also engaged in dialogue with Gyokeres’s representatives.
TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey has provided the latest update on Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker.
“Sesko knows Arsenal have maintained talks with Gyokeres, and it’s true that the Gunners have held talks over the Sporting CP striker,” Bailey told TBR Football.
“At no point have Arsenal called off talks, but clearly, and as we know, they have progressed further as they have, and are talking to Leipzig – but they are not talking to Sporting yet.
“So yeah, they have talked to Gyokeres’ camp today, but I am told they’ve spoken to Leipzig too – they really are progressing with both, but Sesko still further forward at this point.”
The Swedish striker has been in sensational form for Sporting Lisbon, scoring 54 goals and providing 10 assists last season, numbers that have caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Arteta has two impressive options on his shortlist

Both Sesko and Gyokeres would add a goal scoring threat to the Arsenal attack, something that is missing at the moment.
While Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are crucial players, their goal scoring numbers are not as impressive as the players the Gunners are targeting.
Sesko is a young attacker who has the potential to get even more better while Gyokeres is experienced and has performed much more consistently.
Arteta faces a difficult decision this summer but signing either of them would make his team’s attack stronger next season and provide them a different dimension.
The Gunners have also been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.
