Arsenal and Barcelona Compete for Bayern Star

Arsenal are close to signing France international and Bayern Munich forward, Kingsley Coman on loan, according to Football Insider but face Spanish competition from Barcelona.

Coman joined Bayern Munich from Juventus in 2017, having spent two seasons on loan , and has gone on to make almost 300 appearances for the club.

The 28 year-old has scored 63 goals and provided 66 assists, including a match-winning display against Manchester United in the Champions League last season.

Coman has won the Champions League and Club World Cup, and a total 26 domestic trophies from his time at PSG, Juventus and Bayern.

However, Coman has also experienced lengthy injuries and made only 17 league appearances last season.

Coman has not completed 90 minutes since November 2023.

Sources say Coman, 28, is keen on making the move to Arsenal this summer but would seek assurances over his playing time at the Emirates.

This comes only a month after Coman rejected Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.

Nevertheless, the winger is a target for Mikel Arteta and Bayern Munich have provided a green light for Arsenal to approach the player.

Arteta and Arsenal’s recruitment team see the need for an experienced head into a youthful dressing room at the Emirates.

Transfer discussions will not be straightforward as Coman seeks assurances of game time and Arsenal face competition.

Bayern also want financial assurances, seeking between €30m/€40m (£25.6m/£34.2m) with an option to buy and loan fees.

Coman’s availability on loan has alerted clubs across Europe who are now monitoring the situation.

There is reported interest from former employers PSG and La Liga giants FC Barcelona.

Barcelona are exploring their options as the Nico Williams saga drags on and Coman is at the top of their wishlist.

Goal report that Barcelona are desperate to bolster their attack, alongside Dani Olmo.

Coman ‘would prefer a move to either the Premier League or La Liga’ over moving back to Paris and is ‘particularly keen on a move to Arsenal’.

It is advantage Arteta but the Arsenal coach has work to do.
