Napoli picked up a vital 2-1 win over Milan in the Serie A yesterday and after the game, manager Antonio Conte was asked about his future.
The Italian saw his side hold on to a 2-1 lead at the end of the game, despite Milan putting a lot of pressure to get an equaliser. The win meant that there is now only a three-point gap between Napoli and Inter, with the title race now seemingly going down the wire.
Conte spoke about the game in chat with DAZN after the win but he was also asked about his future, amidst links with a move to Juventus and Milan.
He initially spoke about his intergration at Napoli, via MilanNews: “As for my integration in Naples, it was perfect, beyond expectations. I was welcomed very well right away. It was the first time I received without having given anything, I felt indebted. What we have to do is be aware that we are doing something extraordinary and miraculous.”
Despite that, Conte refused to confirm his future at Napoli and hinted that a lot could depend on the last few games in the season.
He said: “We have only participated in one competition this year, now what we all have to do is be fierce and focus on the present. After the 8 games we will think about the future, that’s what I feel like saying.”
It is not new for Conte to keep his club on their toes especially when a season ends as his demands have always been to compete at the highest level and when a club doesn’t meet that expectation, things always turn sour.
