Alexandre Lacazette subject of tug-of-war between MLS and Saudi Pro League

Alexandre Lacazette (34) will leave Olympique Lyonnais this summer and whilst his next destination remains unclear, there is no shortage of interest in the former France international, according to Mohamed Toubache-Ter.

Last season, he played a key role in driving Lyon from a relegation battle and towards an unlikely qualification for the UEFA Europa League. He netted 22 goals in the 2023/24 campaign in 35 games in all competitions. This time around, he netted 19 in 42 games.

However, on a high wage and with Lyon in financial difficulty, it was always clear that Lacazette’s expiring deal with his formative club would not be renewed. He is therefore available as a free agent. It looks as though not only will the former Arsenal forward leave Lyon and France, but he may leave Europe altogether.

As per Toubache-Ter, teams in the MLS in the USA are interested in Lacazette, as are Saudi Pro League sides.
