A concerning update on the wellbeing of Barcelona defender Alejandro Baldé has come to the fore late this evening.
This comes after the Spanish international was forced into a premature departure from the Blaugrana’s meeting with Athletic Club.
Xavi’s troops are of course currently locked in action at San Mamés, with sights firmly set on a place in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
And, as things stand with 45 minutes on the clock, a spot in the final four is precisely what the evening’s visitors are headed towards.
This comes owing to goals on the part of Robert Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal (in spectacular fashion).
As alluded to above, though, amid an otherwise positive evening’s work to date, Barcelona have also been dealt a blow on the personnel front.
Inside the 20-minute mark in San Sebastian, the aforementioned Alejandro Baldé pulled up clutching his hamstring.
After going to ground in evident pain, the left-back was helped from the pitch in a flood of tears, sparking immediate fears of an incoming spell on the sidelines.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, precisely that appears to be on the cards.
As per a report from Javi Miguel of Diario Sport, Baldé has suffered what looks like a ‘serious muscle tear’.
The Spanish international is therefore likely facing up to somewhere between four and six weeks out of action.
