According to L’Équipe, Al-Hilal are in the market for a left-back and will look towards prying French fullback Lucas Digne (30) away from Aston Villa.
The Saudi Arabian club hope that they will be able to convince the English side to a loan-to-buy deal for the defender. Whether Villa will allow Digne to walk is yet to be seen, but there were rumours in the summer that the player was available for the right price.
Change in fortune for Digne could frustrate Al-Hilal’s hopes
The French international was said to have fallen down the pecking order, as manager, Unai Emery, preferred instead the profile of teammate Alex Moreno (30). However, a lengthy injury to Moreno has allowed Digne to play an important role in Villa’s impressive season that sees them second in the league.
The Frenchman has started all but three games across all competitions this season and has kept his place within the starting lineup despite Moreno’s recovery. If Al-Hilal are unable to sway Villa then they may instead look towards Raphaël Guerreiro (30).
