‘A similar case to Ødegaard’ – Arsenal expressing interest in Real Madrid star

Premier League giants Arsenal are expressing an ongoing interest in the signature of a member of the midfield ranks at Real Madrid.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Arda Güler as the player in question.

Güler, for his part, is of course in the midst of something of a hit-and-miss opening to the new campaign.

Though he has enjoyed an uptick in game-time compared to his debut season, the 19-year-old is still evidently some way down the pecking order when it comes to the first-choice options of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Murmurs, in turn, have even spread of late that Güler could seek out a mid-season exit, in a bid to secure a more prominent role elsewhere.

And, as alluded to above, one club primed to pounce in the case of as much playing out comes in the form of Arsenal.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The Gunners see in Güler a similar case to Martin Ødegaard, who they rescued from his depressive experience at the white team.’

The board at The Emirates are therefore giving consideration to tabling a loan proposal for Güler’s signature, with a view to a permanent transfer down the line.

The Turk himself, though, as things stand, is determined to prove himself in the colours of Real Madrid.
