Lucas Chevalier (22) could be ruled out of the Paris Olympics after being forced off the pitch after suffering a meniscus problem in Lille OSC’s victory over FC Nantes last night.
Chevalier has been suffering from an issue with his meniscus for the past few months but the injury appeared to come to a head during a save against Bénie Traoré (21). The goalkeeper a few minutes later signalled that he could not continue with the match and limped off the pitch.
Lucas Chevalier will receive surgery this week
According to L’Équipe, the France U23s goalkeeper will have surgery on his knee this week which could put his place in Thierry Henry’s squad for the Olympics in doubt, as the recovery time for this injury is reported to be around six to eight weeks. It’s an injury that could not come at a worse time for the captain of the Les Bleuets.
