Timo Werner is reportedly toying with the possibility of returning to RB Leipzig.

Should he end up leaving Chelsea, the forward would prefer to re-join Leipzig, according to Leipziger Volkszeitung.

Werner has struggled to nail down a starting place at Chelsea following his transfer from Leipzig in 2020.

And, much to the surprise of Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, the German international recently admitted that he wants more playing time.

“It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and also to have a chance to play at the World Cup,” said Werner.

Tuchel since responded to Werner’s statements, saying:

“I’m surprised, I would be very happy as a young guy having a contract at Chelsea Football Club.

“I would be one of the happiest people on the planet.”

Werner still has three years left on his contract.
