After Jonathan Tah was withdrawn at half-time against Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has given an update on the centre-back’s injury.
Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is “optimistic” that Jonathan Tah will be fit for Thursday’s Europa League semifinal first leg against AS Roma.
The centre-back was forced off at half-time of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with VfB Stuttgart, raising concerns over his availability for Thursday’s clash.
But speaking at his post-match press conference, Xabi Alonso expressed hope that Tah will be available, allaying fears of a serious injury.
“The first tests weren’t too bad, so we remain optimistic for Thursday,” said Xabi Alonso.
“Obviously we didn’t want to take any risks after the knock, so we decided to make a change at half-time. We hope that he will be able to play on Thursday in Rome.”
