A headline member of the attacking ranks at Atlético Madrid played no part in training on Saturday, throwing his participation against Alavés very much up in the air.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.
The player to have missed out on Saturday comes in the form of Álvaro Morata.
Hitman Morata, for his part, is understood to have come down with a sudden bout of illness.
Enough to keep him away from the action earlier today, his readiness to take to the pitch in Atlético’s La Liga showdown with Alavés on Sunday evening
MD point towards Morata having been unlikely to start anyway, though, with Diego Simeone having utilised a front-two of Antoine Griezmann and Ángel Correa in training across the week to date.
Elsewhere, on the injury front, both Memphis Depay and Thomas Lemar remain unavailable for selection.
