All associated with La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday breathed a collective sigh of relief.
This comes amid confirmation that star frontman Robert Lewandowski will be forced to sit out just a one-game suspension.
Lewandowski, for his part, picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign over the weekend.
En route to Barcelona’s narrow victory over Las Palmas, the Polish international was booked for taking excessive time to make his way off the pitch, after being substituted.
As much means that Lewandowski will be forced to sit out the weekend after this, when Xavi’s troops make the trip to relegation-battling Cádiz.
In the days following the clash, however, calls had mounted in Spain for the 35-year-old to be hit with a further game’s ban, too.
This came amid widespread agreement that Lewandowski had picked up his latest caution on purpose, to have a clean disciplinary slate for Barca’s El Clásico showdown with Real Madrid later this month.
As alluded to above, though, such calls have fallen on deaf ears.
This comes amid confirmation on Wednesday evening that the Competitions Committee have come to the decision that a one-game suspension will suffice.
Lewandowski, as a result, will be available to face Real Madrid.
