The latest comments laid out by Barcelona president Joan Laporta have no doubt piqued attentions at arch rivals Real Madrid on Thursday evening.
As much comes after the Blaugrana chief provided his take on the impact of Kylian Mbappé’s impending arrival in Spain’s capital.
It is of course common knowledge across the world of football that wide-man Mbappé is all set to take his talents to La Liga this summer, to link up with Carlo Ancelotti’s Real.
After last month informing the powers that be at Paris Saint-Germain of his decision not to renew his expiring contract, the France international has since been locked in negotiations with the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu, over the terms of a deal beginning in the summer.
An agreement is expected to be struck all but imminently, in the process adding another of world football’s standout performers to a talent-packed squad in Madrid.
And yet, as alluded to above, one individual who envisions Mbappé’s arrival giving rise to problems for the powers that be at Real, comes in the form of Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) late on Thursday, Laporta was asked for his take on the transfer saga of the year to date.
And, in what has since been widely labelled as an attempt to unsettle those on the other side of the Clásico divide, the Barca patron went on to assure that:
“I don’t envy Real Madrid for [securing] Mbappé as [a] new signing. This [move] distorts the dressing room, for sure.”
From here, Laporta also went on to hint that, owing to the fact that he and Mbappé take to the pitch in the same position, Vinícius Jr’s sale may require sanctioning this summer:
“You have to sell a player, don’t you? Because they’re not going to play in the same place…”
