The powers that be at Atlético Madrid have identified a key member of the defensive ranks at La Liga rivals Real Sociedad as a potential target for the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Marca, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Diego Simeone and co, it is understood, have set their sights on the services of Real Sociedad standout Robin Le Normand.
On the hunt for reinforcements at the back amid what has proven a shaky campaign to date on that end, Atlético have earmarked 27-year-old Le Normand as a potentially game-changing addition.
The one major stumbling block towards any deal, however, comes in the form of Real Sociedad’s valuation of their defensive stalwart.
La Real, it is claimed, would be expected to seek out a fee in the region of €40 million for Le Normand.
Atlético, who will also require funds for the addition of a midfielder with a view to next season, are therefore ready to offer up a player in part-exchange.
Javi Galán, currently on loan at Anoeta from Spain’s capital, is the most likely candidate as things stand.
