Milan interested in former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte

With Stefano Pioli still under pressure, Milan are interested in the possibility of hiring former Tottenham, Juventus and Inter boss Antonio Conte in the summer.

Pioli’s job was under strict consideration yesterday as the club’s hierarchy was left annoyed by the results and the injuries picked up by players in recent months. But for the time being, Pioli has stayed at the club.

La Gazzetta dello Sport state that evaluations about a sacking were made yesterday but the lack of top alternatives made Gerry Cardinale wait and give Pioli some more time. In event of Pioli’s exit, two options are already being considered by the Rossoneri.

Conte is the top choice. He is currently free and it won’t cost the club to pay a severance package. But Conte’s wage demands are a problem but Milan believe that he could be willing to take a wage cut from what he previously earned at Spurs and Inter.

The second option is Ignazio Abate. He is seen as more of an interim solution because the jump from the Milan Primavera to the Serie A is a considerable one but depending on how things go, the situation and perception about the former full-back could change.
