Eintracht Frankfurt trainer Dino Toppmöller appeared as surprised as everyone else when commenting on his team’s shocking and sensational 5-1 home win over FC Bayern München on Saturday afternoon. The head-coach of the SGE praised his team for answering the challenge he issued to them during his rather somber Thursday pre-match press conference.

“We said that we had to push ourselves to the limit,” Toppmöller reminded the Sky microphones afterwards,” I told the lads that I couldn’t promise them a result. But if we were on fire from the first minute onwards, then the likelihood of us getting a good result increases. Of course, it’s all the better that it turned out like this.”

“This was a strong performance from start to finish,” Toppmöller continued, “We were simply poor in the last two games. It was important to show a reaction today. That’s what I asked the lads to do prior to the game. The reaction was right there from the start. I never questioned their mentality or willingness.”

“I totally vouch for this team,” the SGE trainer noted near the conclusion of his interview, “It might not have been there for a couple of games, but it was there right from the start today. One could see it in the opening few minutes.”
