Everton close to agreeing new long-term deal with Francis Okoronkwo

Everton are reportedly close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Francis Okoronkwo.

The 19-year-old joined the Toffees in 2021 from Sunderland in a deal worth around £1 million.

After impressing with his performances for the Under-18s during the 2021-22 season, the youngster became a regular starter for the Under-21s last term.

He featured in 26 Premier League 2 matches in 2022-23, registering four goals and two assists.

The striker has also made a good start to the new season as he has started in six Premier League 2 games, with three goal contributions to his name.

Okoronkwo is yet to earn his senior debut for the Merseyside outfit but has been part of the first-team’s matchday squad.

His contract at Goodison Park is set to run out next summer but Everton are keen to hand him a new deal.

According to The Athletic, the Toffees are close to agreeing a new long-term contract with the talented youngster.

The 19-year-old mainly plays as a centre-forward but he can also be used as a left-winger as well as a right-winger. He is highly rated for his excellent speed, movement, and balance.

Everton also handed Jarrad Branthwaite a new contract earlier this month.

The 21-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire in 2025 but the new terms ensured he will remain at Goodison Park until 2027.
