Over the years, there have been several players who’ve had the unique experience of wearing the jerseys of both these iconic clubs.
Ricardo Zamora
The legendary goalkeeper, whose name adorns the trophy for the fewest goals conceded by a goalkeeper in the league, began his career with Barcelona between 1919 and 1921, before making the move to Real Madrid from 1930 to 1936.
Bernd Schuster
He is one of the few footballers in history to have played for all three of Spain’s major clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid. He wore the Blaugrana jersey from 1980 to 1988 and the Los Blancos shirt from 1988 to 1990, during the era known as the ‘Quinta del Buitre.’
Gica Hagi
Often considered the best Romanian footballer of all time, Hagi also wore both clubs’ jerseys. He initially played for Real Madrid from 1990 to 1992, leaving his native Romania for Spain. Later, he joined Barcelona from 1994 to 1996, following two seasons at Brescia.
Julen Lopetegui
Lopetegui was also a player for both Real Madrid and Barcelona. His goalkeeping career began with Real Madrid in the 1989/91 season. He was initially signed by Logrones and later by Barcelona, where he played from 1994 to 1996.
Robert Prosineki
The Yugoslavian star of the 1990s spent time with both clubs. He joined Real Madrid in 1991 and remained until 1994. After a year on loan with Real Oviedo, he moved to Barcelona in 1995, staying until 1997.
Michael Laudrup
Hailed as Denmark’s greatest footballer, he played a crucial role in Barcelona‘s “Dream Team” under Johan Cruyff. He joined Barcelona in 1989 and stayed until 1994. After leaving the Blaugrana, he was signed by Real Madrid from 1994 to 1996.
Albert Celades
He came through Barcelona‘s youth system and had the unique experience of representing both clubs. He played for Barcelona‘s first team for four seasons and later joined Real Madrid for four more seasons, beginning in the 2000/01 campaign.
Luis Figo
He moved from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000. Figo played for the Blaugrana from 1995 to 2000 and made the historic switch to Los Blancos.

The Brazilian striker, often regarded as one of the greatest forwards in football history, arrived at Barcelona in the 1996/97 season, later playing for Inter, before joining Real Madrid in 2002/03. He stayed with Real Madrid until the 2006/07 season.
Samuel Eto’o
The Cameroonian forward had a unique journey. He started with Real Madrid but was loaned to Espanyol and then permanently transferred to Real Mallorca. In 2004, Eto’o moved to Barcelona, where he enjoyed the peak years of his career until 2009.
Miquel Soler
Known for his versatility, Soler played for Real Madrid, Barcelona, Espanyol and Atletico Madrid. His journey began with Barcelona in 1988, where he primarily achieved success. He was briefly loaned to Atletico Madrid before joining Real Madrid in 1995.
Alfonso Albeniz
At the age of 16, Albeniz made a remarkable switch from Barcelona to Real Madrid. He later served as a director and eventually became the president of the National Referees’ Association.
Nando Munoz
He had an intriguing career path. He played for Barcelona from 1990 to 1992, winning the Champions League, but a controversial transfer saw him move to Real Madrid. Sevilla tried to secure his services, but Real Madrid paid the release clause, signing him for four seasons.

The Brazilian striker scored the goal that eliminated Real Madrid from the European Cup when he played for Barcelona. He moved to Real Madrid in 1962, staying there for three seasons.
Javier Saviola
Known as “El Conejo,” Saviola joined Barcelona in 2001 and remained there until 2007. After brief spells with Monaco and Sevilla, he played for Real Madrid between 2007 and 2009.
Marcos Alonso
He came through Real Madrid‘s youth academy and played for the first team until 2010. In the 2022/23 season, he joined Barcelona from Chelsea.
