Olivier Giroud on facing PSG with Milan: “It is not the decisive match”

Ahead of Milan’s upcoming Champions League group stage clash with Paris Saint-Germain, France international striker Olivier Giroud (37) discussed the prospect of playing the Ligue 1 champions in a recent interview with Téléfoot. In the same interview, the striker also revealed the latest on his France future.

In what has been labelled a group of death by many, Giroud’s Milan have been contested with the mountainous task of playing PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United. After two matches, Milan currently sit third in Group F following two draws with Dortmund and Newcastle. Both matches ended goalless. PSG are currently second after beating Dortmund (2-0) but losing to Newcastle (4-1) who top the group.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal forward was asked about the importance of the upcoming match with PSG. Giroud replied, “PSG v Milan is not the decisive match, but we have to take what we can get. We haven’t lost the match yet, but if we have the opportunity to win it, we won’t be embarrassed”.

France’s all-time top goalscorer will be hoping to open his account in Europe’s premier competition and get Milan off the mark after their opening two matches ended goalless. The match between Milan and PSG takes place on Wednesday night at the Parc des Princes.
