Tottenham retain buyback clause for Harry Kane, reveals Daniel Levy

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has confirmed they have a buyback clause for Harry Kane, per The Athletic.

The Lilywhites were highly reluctant to lose the 30-year-old in the summer and turned down several bids from Bayern Munich.

But the German giants persisted in their efforts and ultimately sealed a move worth more than €100 million.

The England ace penned a four-year contract at the Allianz Arena, but he could return to North London in future.

Levy, while speaking at a fans’ forum, has revealed they retain a buyback clause as part of his move to the Bundesliga.

Kane’s departure was a big blow for Tottenham fans who were disappointed to lose one of their best players of all time.

However, with only a year remaining on his contract at Spurs, they faced the risk of losing him for free next summer.

The England international was also desperate for a new challenge, and so they accepted the lucrative offer from Bayern.

The 30-year-old has made an impressive start to life in Germany. He marked his Bundesliga debut with a goal and assist in their 4-0 success over Werder Bremen.

The experienced striker followed that up with a brace against FC Augsburg, and he also earned his name on the scoresheet in Munich’s 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

Kane is now set to showcase his skills in the Champions League against Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Red Devils had also made him their top priority but turned their attention to Rasmus Hojlund after learning Tottenham’s huge demands for a deal.
