Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri has only identified Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri as his preferred left-back target in the summer transfer market.
According to Il Messaggero, Lazio, however, are not close to completing the signing of Emerson Palmieri yet. The report claims that the Rome-based side is interested in concluding a loan move for the former Roma star this summer.
While the salary of the left-back is not an issue, Lazio will have to find an agreement over a deal with the player’s parent club, Chelsea. As such, the situation has now hit a stalemate.
Last season, the Brazil-born Italy international was on loan at Lyon. Although the player earns an annual salary of €4.6 million, he took a pay cut and reduced his salary to €2.5 million to join Lyon last season.
The player likes the prospect of reuniting with the former Chelsea manager, who sees Emerson as a much-needed addition to the left flank consisting of right-footed players like Elseid Hysaj and Adam Marusic at Lazio.
But if a move for Emerson doesn’t get over the line soon, Lazio could shift their focus toward alternatives. The Italian club has internally discussed Empoli’s Fabiano Parisi.
The Biancocelesti have also kept tabs on Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa and Celta Vigo’s Javi Galan.
