Le Parisien have revealed that Paris Saint-Germain rejected the chance to sign now-Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham (20), choosing instead to trust in youth prospect Warren Zaïre-Emery (17).
Bellingham has hit the ground running since arriving at the Bernabeu in a deal reported to be worth just over €100m. In four La Liga games, he has already scored five goals and registered one assist. However, things could have been different. According to Le Parisien, one of the England international’s representatives reached out to PSG’s Luís Campos in order to ascertain Les Parisiens’ interest last year.
However, Campos refused any potential move, convinced that in Zaïre-Emery, he already has a player of Bellingham’s calibre. The PSG youth product has become a fixture in the first-team midfield at the Parc des Princes. He has already started all five of PSG’s Ligue 1 matches this season, whilst he also captained the France U21 side in the most international break, becoming the youngest player to do so in over 30 years.
