Ilkay Gündogan has given an emotional farewell to Hansi Flick in an Instagram post.

Following the sacking of Hansi Flick as Germany coach, Ilkay Gündogan has posted an emotional message to the 58-year-old on Instagram.
“Thank you for the time together, the mutual appreciation and the cooperation, Hansi,” wrote Gündogan, who was named Germany captain shortly before the 4-1 loss to Japan in what turned out to be Flick’s final game in charge.
“You are a great person and coach – it is a great pity that we as a team could not repay your great trust in us.
“We will keep trying to learn as a team to come back stronger for a successful home European Championship 2024 – also for you! I wish you all the best for the future,” said Gündogan.
