It seems that Germany coach Hansi Flick is planning to move Joshua Kimmich from midfield to right back.
Bild reports that Kimmich played on the right side of defense in an exhibition match against Germany’s U-20 national team.
The fact that Kimmich was listed as a defender when the squad was announced, and Flick’s decision to call up only two natural full-backs in Benjamin Henrichs and Robin Gosens, had already sparked speculation of a possible position change.
Kimmich himself has made it clear that he prefers to play in midfield, but that he’s willing to do whatever is best for the team.
He played at right-back for both Bayern Munich and Germany before being moved to midfield.
