January will be a busy month for Eintracht Frankfurt

A second consecutive 1-1 draw on the weekend saw Eintracht Frankfurt once again have to fight from behind in order to salvage a point. With limited attacking options at Dino Toppmöller’s disposal, it will certainly be a difficult few months for Die Adler as they look around the squad for inspiration after the departure of Randal Kolo Muani.

Due to the Frenchman’s move to PSG occurring once the German transfer window officially closed, Eintracht were unable to utilise the finances gained from the Parisians. Their desired targets in Elye Wahi and Niclas Füllkrug had both been transferred, meaning that even if the deal had been completed sooner, the Eagles still would have had to look elsewhere.

This has certainly, therefore, not been how sporting director Markus Krösche would have expected the season to start as he would explain: “In the short term we have to admit that the situation is not ideal due to the lack of compensation in the attack. I know that.”

This has led to Eintracht putting their trust into new signings Jessic Ngankam and Omar Marmoush – with the latter scoring the decisive goal on matchday two to earn Die Adler a point. However, according to Bild, while a striker will almost certainly be signed in January, Eintracht will also be looking to step up their interest in Anderlecht defender Zeno Debast, who is priced at €15m.
