L’Equipe are reporting that Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has set a whopping €500m price tag for free-scoring striker Victor Osimhen (24).
The Nigerian international was arguably one of Europe’s very best centre-forward this past campaign, logging 31 goals in 39 games for Luciano Spalletti’s side. Under the guidance of newly-appointed Napoli manager Rudi Garcia, Osimhen has already found the back of the net three times in as many games with the Serie A champions.
The former Lille forward was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal. The PIF-funded outfit reportedly offered Napoli a total package worth €200m for Osimhen. The outlet reports that Al-Hilal’s €40m per year wages proposal made Osimhen think twice about joining Saudi Arabia.
However, De Laurentiis would have never allowed his striker to leave for €200m. L’Equipe reports that the Napoli boss said the following in an email sent to Al-Hilal’s representatives: “Your bid can only buy one of Osimhen’s foot. For next year, I expect you’ll be able to table €500m and maybe we’ll entertain your offer, but I say again, ‘maybe’”.
