Bayern Munich earned their third win in three Bundesliga games this season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach at Borussia-Park.
In a first half with very few chances, Ko Itakura gave the home side a surprise lead on 30 minutes with a header from a corner.
Bayern started to create more chances after the break and were rewarded for their efforts when Leroy Sané received a great pass from Joshua Kimmich and slotted the ball past debutant Moritz Nicolas in the Gladbach goal on 58 minutes.
The German champions began their search for a winner and finally scored the decisive goal in the 87th minute when second-half substitute Mathys Tel rose high after a corner and made it 2-1 with a header.
The win moved Bayern into second place in the Bundesliga behind Bayer Leverkusen, who have a better goal difference.
Bayern and Leverkusen will meet in the first match of Matchday 4 at the Allianz Arena on September 15.
