Leeds United forward Jack Harrison is on the verge of returning to Premier League football by joining last season’s relegation survivors Everton.
The Athletic claims the Englishman is undergoing medical examinations ahead of a season-long loan move to Goodison Park.
Harrison has been a long-term target for the Toffees following his impressive performances for Leeds last season.
The 26-year-old forward grabbed six goals and ten assists in 40 outings across all competitions and was one of the top performers for the Yorkshire club.
Everton have now landed their man after triggering a relegation clause in Harrison’s contract that will see him join the Merseyside club on an initial loan with a view to making the transfer permanent next year.
Aston Villa were also interested in the former Middlesbrough man, but the prospect of regular playing time in Merseyside was more appealing than a move to the Midlands.
The Toffees were also interested in Harrison’s ex-teammate Rodrygo, but they were beaten to the punch by Qatari club Al-Rayyan, who activated his £3 million termination clause.
Harrison is set to be the fourth summer signing to link up Sean Dyche’s side during the Premier League transfer window following the arrivals of Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma, and Youssef Chermiti.
Should Everton finalise the transfer, Harrison will be the latest first-team player to depart Leeds this summer in what has been an exodus at Elland Road.
Robin Koch, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Brenden Aaronson have all left on loan, while Willy Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams could all depart too before the transfer window closes.
Adams was on the cusp of a move to Chelsea and had undergone a medical before the West Londoners pulled out of the transfer to fund a move for Moises Caicedo.
Everton did not have the best start to the Premier League campaign after suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to Fulham in Saturday’s showdown.
Dyche will hope to bolster his ranks with further reinforcements to avoid another relegation scrap this season.
