Barcelona have just secured the signing of İlkay Gündoğan, but Relevo, via Jijantes, are reporting that the Blaugrana are not done yet. Barça want to continue to bolster their midfield, as the departure of Sergio Busquets has left a hole in the squad that may have to be covered by more than just one player.
Dani Parejo is the player who has caught the eye of the Catalan club. Parejo has been at Villarreal for three years and is one of the club captains. A crucial cog in the system, the Yellow Submarine will not want to let him go. Parejo may however be enticed by a club as big as Barça, which would also allow him to play in the Champions League as he enters the final stretch of his career.
At 34, Parejo is a very similar profile to Busquets. A master on the ball – a dictator of play – he could be the perfect replacement. He also has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for free, which would be very beneficial for Barcelona.
