Manchester City will submit a €120m bid to Red Bull Leipzig for Croatian centre-back Joško Gvardiol (21), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Gvardiol has been labelled a priority signing by the treble-winning outfit since his eye-catching displays during the 2022 World Cup and his breakout season with the Red Bull-owned German side. Gvardiol has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester City. Foot Mercato adds that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has already talked with the player whilst City Sporting director Txiki Begiristain has already met with Gvardiol’s entourage.
Should City’s €120m bid be accepted by RB Leipzig, Gvardiol would overtake Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire as the most expansive defender ever. Foot Mercato understands that City’s €120m bid to RB Leipzig includes add-ons and a percentage on resale. Gvardiol, one of the most promising centre-backs in the world, would perhaps replace Spain international Aymeric Laporte (29), who may leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
