Fabrizio Romano reports that Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven is on the shortlist for Tottenham Hotspur as they continue to try and improve their defensive options.
Talks over a transfer for the 22-year-old have already begun with his representatives. On Spurs’ shortlist for a centre-back, van de Ven joins Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba on the list as well who Tottenham have also initiated contact over a move.
van de Ven has previously made it known that he would like to play in the Premier League one day, the 22-year-old has previously attracted interest from Liverpool as well.
The 22-year-old joined Wolfsburg from second-tier Volendam of the Netherlands for €3.5m. His first season in the Bundesliga was rather uninspiring but he was part of a heavily underperforming Wolfsburg team under compatriot Mark van Bommel and later Florian Kohfeldt.
van de Ven has taken big leaps in his development in this past season under Niko Kovac. In the Bundesliga, he played all but one game as Wolfsburg finished eighth in the league, missing out on European football.
