Juventus are closing in on their first signing of the summer after reaching an agreement in principle for Lille winger Timothy Weah, as per Sky Sports Italia.
The Bianconeri have agreed personal terms with the USMNT youngster over a five-year deal and are looking to sort out the transfer fee with the French club.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2024, Lille have affixed a price tag worth €12 million.
An academy graduate of Paris Saint-Germain, the 23-year-old had a loan stint with Celtic before moving to Lille in 2019.
Weah has made more than 100 appearances for Les Dogues and was part of the side that won the Ligue 1 in 2020/21.
A regular for the United States national team, Weah was instrumental in the recent CONCACAF Nations League triumph.
A winger by trade, Weah has also been deployed as a wing-back on both the flanks at Lille in recent seasons.
The Biaconeri are preparing themselves for a major overhaul following a disastrous campaign characterised by the failure to qualify for the Champions League and various off-field controversies.
The report also adds that Weah’s arrival will not affect their pursuit of Leicester City full-back Timothy Castagne, who remains the Old Lady’s top target for the summer.
The Belgian international, who has a contract until 2025, wants to leave the King Power Stadium following the Foxes’ relegation. Leicester are holding out for a fee of around €15m.
Juventus recently signed Arkadiusz Mililk on a permanent deal from Marseille; meanwhile, there are a handful of first-team stars facing uncertain futures in Turin.
Federico Chiesa continues to attract interest from Premier League clubs Liverpool and Newcastle United, while Adrien Rabiot has been linked to Manchester United, with his contract expiring in the summer.
The Bianconeri are reportedly in the last-ditch talks to extend the French midfielder’s contract, or in the event he leaves, they have identified Arsenal’s Thomas Partey as his replacement.
