Bayern Munich cool interest in striker target Dusan Vlahovic

Bayern Munich’s striker search gets a new update as the German giants are gradually giving up their interest in Juventus ace Dusan Vlahovic, reports German journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Serbian striker has reportedly been one of the names highly recommended by manager Thomas Tuchel, who wants to sign a new No.9 ahead of next season.

However, Plettenberg claims that Bayern’s interest in Vlahovic is not concrete, thus closing the possibility of his arrival in the summer transfer window.

Vlahovic has failed to live up to the €70 million price tag Juve shelled out for his services, and the Turin giants, who are currently in financial crisis, cite his sale as a great opportunity to recuperate the funds.

A turbulent 2022/23 campaign where the Old Lady failed to secure Champions League qualification has raised doubts over the futures of a handful of first-team stars, including the Serbian international.

Bayern’s withdrawal from Vlahovic’s pursuit will be great news for other suitors, including Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Plettenberg adds that the Bavarians’ quest to land a new centre-forward hasn’t seen any major breakthrough, with targets like Randal Kolo Muani and Harry Kane out of their reach.

Kane has emerged as a top target for La Liga giants Real Madrid, who have identified the English international as a successor to Karim Benzema.

The Bavarians are also prioritising a move for a defensive midfielder, with West Ham United’s Declan Rice topping the wishlist.

Bayern remain undeterred in their pursuit of the Three Lions midfielder despite competition from Arsenal, who are reportedly the frontrunners to land him.
