In an ad-hoc statement released on Wednesday afternoon, Borussia Dortmund confirmed that they will receive an initial €103m from Real Madrid for Jude Bellingham, with a further €30.9m to follow in future bonuses.
This comes after the Athletic’s David Ornstein broke the news earlier on Wednesday that Madrid would pay a fee “in excess of €100m” for Bellingham, who is expected to complete his medical in the coming days.
Bellingham (19), who named Bundesliga Player of the Season, is expected to sign a contract until 2029 with the Spanish giants, and he will also become their record transfer after Eden Hazard.
The initial €103m that Dortmund will receive is a significant return on the €20m they paid to Birmingham City in 2020. Bellingham has since gone on to play 132 games in all competitions for BVB, scoring 24 and creating 25, and was an integral part of Edin Terzic’s squad this season as they narrowly missed out on the Bundesliga title on the final day.
