Following the sacking of Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich are on the hunt for his replacement, with RB Leipzig’s Max Eberl reportedly among the candidates.
For Red Bull managing director Oliver Mintzlaff, however, it’s clear that Eberl will not leave Leipzig, having only joined the club in December.
“The question does not arise for me. Max just signed a contract with us. He seems to be very happy and is currently preparing for the new season. He appreciates the freedom to work in a very pleasant environment,” Mintzlaff told Sport Bild and continued:
“Moreover, I’m convinced that Bayern will quickly regain their old strength. Everything is not suddenly bad there.
“He was my absolute dream candidate for the job and I’m happy that we have him with us. Now we have the expectation that we will take the next step with Max”.
Asked what he hopes that next step will be, Mintzlaff replied:
“We want to play consistently in the Champions League and win titles. He can start with the latter in the cup final.
“It is clear that the air is getting thinner at the top of the league. But if Bayern should weaken again, we must and want to be closer.”
