Espanyol’s Joselu is set to be approached by Real Madrid as Los Blancos search desperately for a backup to Karim Benzema.
His links to the Spanish giants have come as a shock to many, mainly due to him being sold by Newcastle just four years ago following a 52-game, seven-goal spell on Tyneside.
But now, AS are reporting that the 33-year old, who is set to end the season as Liga’s 3rd-top goalscorer despite him set to be relegated with Espanyol, is being lined up by Real who want a backup to Benzema with Mariano Diaz preparing to leave on a free transfer this offseason.
Joselu has played for Real before, making two appearances for the club between 2011 and 2012 and since then, he has played for the likes of Hoffenheim, Frankfurt, Hannover and Stoke to name just a few other sides.
His relegation with Espanyol will most certainly mean he moves on from the club this summer and with Real potentially calling, it’ll be interesting to see if he makes the move to Santiago Bernabeu.
