According to Foot Mercato, 19-year-old forward Luis Semedo could be leaving Benfica to embark on a new adventure in the Premier League. Semedo, who joined Benfica’s professional ranks in 2020, has caught the attention of clubs abroad with his performances. This season, he has contributed 2 goals and 1 assist in 17 appearances for Benfica’s reserve side.
As Semedo’s contract with Benfica is set to expire at the end of the season, he has received a tempting offer from Brighton. The English club has reportedly presented the young Portuguese talent with a four-year contract. Semedo, who has also represented Portugal at the U20 level, was part of the Benfica team that triumphed in the 2022 Youth League.
The Seagulls look to continue their recent success in bringing in and developing youth players from undervalued markets. Roberto De Zerbi’s side qualified for the Europa League with a draw against Manchester City (1-1) yesterday evening.
