24-year-old Union Berlin forward Taiwo Awoniyi is keen to leave the Bundesliga club this summer.
Newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Awoniyi, who has a reported release clause in the region on €20 million, according to Sky Germany.
Due to the funds raised due to promotion, around €190m, Nottingham Forest wouldn’t be against paying such a figure for Awoniyi, who scored 15 and created two in 31 Bundesliga games for Union last season.
Speaking to Kicker in February, Awoniyi said he dreams of returning to the Premier League one day: “Everyone knows that, including here at the club. If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child. Also my sister and a brother live on the island.”
The former Liverpool striker spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Union Berlin before the capital club made the move permanent last summer for €7m.
Nottingham Forest are also in discussions to sign Moussa Niakhaté from Mainz with talks ongoing.
