First 15 minutes of PSG v Lens could be played without VAR due to TV strike action

Le Parisien are reporting that there will likely be no VAR in the first 15 minutes of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 clash against RC Lens tonight.

AMP Visual TV, a television filming provider is taking strike action this weekend, which could have an impact, not only on the broadcasting of PSG v Lens but also on the utilisation of VAR. According to Le Parisien, the first 15 minutes of the match, set to be broadcast on Canal Plus, could be affected.

The rugby competition, Top 14, has already been affected by the action that is taking place across the weekend. The walkouts will be one hour long, starting 45 minutes before the PSG match, which could lead to the first 15 minutes of the match being affected.

Should the strike affect the match, there will be no VAR. There will also be no close-ups, no cutaways or replays, leaving viewers with just the wide-shot of the on-pitch action. The pre-match coverage could also be affected. The strike action is centred around pay.
